Making sure that monies are not frittered away in retre ats or junkets that never benefit teaching.
What else should be a high spending priority?

13.Thu, 10/11/07 5:11 AMPaid continuing education for part-time faculty
14.Thu, 10/11/07 4:29 PMParity pay for part-time faculty would require that part-time faculty make contributions out side of the classroom proportional to full-time faculty contributions to make it truly "parity". It would be very difficult to achieve such high participation levels from part-timers, and in many cases would not be very des! irable. (Many committees require a certain level of knowledge about the college, past practices, etc. that part-timers do not have. Also, since part-timers are by definition not tenured, increasing their voice on committees would be undesirable since they do not have the protection that tenured faculty have.) In short, parity pay is a very bad idea!

In the Athletic Department all moneys were taken away from our sports teams The men's soccer team lost $3,500. I do not know if teams at DVC or LMC received 100% cutbacks on team budgets, but the certainly should be restored to all teams throughout the district.
