.Wed, 10/10/07 7:20 PMYou guys are doing a great job.
.Wed, 10/10/07 7:26 PMall of the above are improtant however it is the people (personalities) who are the most important
.Wed, 10/10/07 7:27 PMIf the UF is addressing issues of deep concern, forums will work.
.Wed, 10/10/07 7:32 PMrepresentatives need to be available in person on their campus; they need to communicate by wr! itten communication in mailboxes about what is happening or not happening and need to be at campus affairs and management-called meetings
.Wed, 10/10/07 7:46 PMi think you all do a great job of keeping in touch with us. as a part-timer i never have an open time to get to meetings, so online stuff is great for me.
.Wed, 10/10/07 7:52 PMWe had a UF Rep come to our dept meeting and the discussion could have been useful but was not because the rep was unprepared for many of the questions and concerns. Also, re: Table Talk. It is the best form of communicaiton because It is great to have the UF news in writing, but it would be ideal if it happened in a more timely fashion, and in more detail than has lately been provided.
.Wed, 10/10/07 8:15 PM! There is a dearth of communication presently: T able Talk has next to no information in it--it is in essence PR for the UF EBoard and its activities, short on details, devoid of analysis of current district (and union) trends; the Listserv is moribund; the surveys are one-way missives framed by curious and unclear assumptions; the EBoard members by and large defer to the UF president (who is very quick and thorough in responding to questions).
.Wed, 10/10/07 8:16 PMQuestion 11 - I'm tired of having our Spring Break tied to a ridiculous religious holiday. Spring Break should always be the 3rd or 4th week in March and SHOULD NEVER have anything to do with Easter Break.....church and state, Helloooo??!!
.Wed, 10/10/07 9:11 PMIt's tough reaching all part timers. E-communication would be best. Relative to #7: Teaching is a full time job and those who have them should committ at least 40 hours of work per week to the dedication of their students and their craft. SLO's are an institutional responsibility; therefore, all employees should be responsible as a part of their current jobs to complete such required work...at no additional pay.
.Wed, 10/10/07 10:17 PMIn the past, requests were made for volunteers to participate in certain things. When I volunteered for the same things twice several years back -- through e-mail to my UF rep -- no one took me up on it. I got an "I'll pass it on reply," from the rep, but it ended there. No acknowledgement from UF central. I guess my suggestion is that UF central needs to respond to individuals directly as well as through the reps since representative government does not always work.
.Wed, 10/10/07 11:36 PMMake sure we see the results of the online surveys.
.Thu, 10/11/07 12:20 AMsend table talk via email use email voting
.Thu, 10/11/07 5:19 PMThe Executive Board should be very transparent with issues that are being considered. The opinions of the full-time faculty should be survey prior to any major item being moved on. The manner in which the part-time hiring preference procedures happened caused a distrust of the Executive Board. We voted for an increase in part-times rights but not preference as it was latter dictated to us. So major items should be surveyed before implementation.
.Thu, 10/11/07 9:16 PMDo a helluva lot more than you're doing now.
.Thu, 10/11/07 11:20 PMThe one time I went to office hours, the person wasn't there.
.Fri, 10/12/07 2:4! 7 AMAs to which class to cancel, the decision should be based on enrollment.
.Fri, 10/12/07 6:25 PMDon't know. I find the UF presence elusive. Somehow the connection between UF and faculty is missing at DVC.
.Fri, 10/12/07 7:17 PMmany open hours and forums are on the days I am not on campus and so are of little use to me.
.Mon, 10/15/07 4:43 AMYou are doing a good job.
.Mon, 10/15/07 7:10 PMRegular (not occasional) and consistent visit from UF rep to department meetings, at least once a semester, if not more.
.Mon, 10/15/07 11:42 PMHave division meetings more often
Mon, 10/15/07 11:53 PMBeing at the San Ramon Campus, communication is important. The office hours just don't make sense for us.
.Tue, 10/16/07 8:37 AMthe forums are the best but are difficult because no one time works for everyone...
.Tue, 10/16/07 6:02 PMThis is a good form it it is herd and used as a tool for change.
.Wed, 10/17/07 3:10 AMTable Talk is excellent.. maybe a BLOG page attached to the Table Talk?
.Wed, 10/17/07 4:29 AMpublic transparency is most important
.Fri, 10/19/07 7:28 PMI don't know how to answer these questions very well as I don't know the result of any of these communications to those making decisions.
